The program
The adult high school diploma program
A real diploma, earned through coursework, on a schedule you set. Here is exactly how it is put together and who it suits.
What you earn
A high school diploma issued by American Royal High School, awarded when you complete 24 credits: four each in English, mathematics, science and social studies, plus eight electives. It is the same requirement for every ARHS student. Nothing is waived and nothing is bought.
What differs between students is the starting line. Someone who left in eleventh grade may need only a handful of courses. Someone who left much earlier will need more. The credit review tells you which one you are.
How the coursework runs
Everything is online and asynchronous. There are no live sessions to attend, no scheduled class times and no group work that depends on other students being available. You open a course, work through the lessons, complete the assessments, and the platform records your progress.
There are no deadlines. You can move quickly through a subject you find easy and slow down on one you do not. If life interrupts — a shift change, an illness, a move — you pause and come back. Nothing expires while you are away.
Who this is built for
- Adults who left before finishing. The largest group by far, and the reason the program exists.
- People with credits already earned. If you completed one or two years, that work counts toward the 24.
- Working adults and parents. Study happens in the gaps — early mornings, lunch breaks, after bedtime.
- People who need the diploma for a specific reason. A job requirement, a college application, a training program, an enlistment conversation.
- Learners 16 and 17. Enrollment is open from 16; under 18 a parent or guardian signs the application.
Who it is not built for
Being straight about this saves everyone time. If you want a diploma without doing coursework, this is not that — and nowhere legitimate is. If you need a physical classroom, daily in-person structure or on-site special education services, a local adult education program will serve you better than we can. And if you specifically need a GED credential rather than a diploma, that is a different test-based route; we have written up the difference honestly.
What it costs
A maximum of $994 for the entire program, reduced by $30 for every credit that transfers in. Digital course materials, student support and platform access are included. Three payment options are published on the tuition page, along with the refund schedule.
What happens at the end
When you complete your final credit you receive your diploma, and you can request transcripts at any point afterward — electronically or by mail. Details are on the graduation and transcripts page.
Next step
Not sure how much of this you have already done?
Answer five questions and an advisor will tell you which credits are likely to transfer, what is left to finish, and what your tuition would be. No payment details, no obligation.
