Academics

Academic expectations

Short, and worth reading. These are the things that keep the diploma worth something.

Conduct

Communication with staff and instructors should be courteous and professional. The learning platform is there to be used responsibly. That is genuinely most of it — the expectations here are not elaborate, because the students are adults.

The complete rules are in the student code of conduct.

Academic integrity

You are expected to submit your own original work and to complete quizzes and assessments independently. Where you use outside sources, cite them.

This is not bureaucratic box-ticking. The value of a diploma rests entirely on the fact that the person holding it did the work. Anyone can print a certificate; what makes yours mean something is that it is true.

The full policy, including what happens when something goes wrong, is in the academic integrity policy.

Using AI tools

We have a clear position on this rather than a vague one.

Fine: asking an AI tool to explain a concept you are stuck on, to give you practice problems, to clarify what an assignment is asking, or to help you brainstorm before you start writing. Used that way it is a tutor that is awake at 11pm, and adult learners genuinely benefit from that.

Not fine: having it produce the assignment or the assessment answers. Work you submit has to reflect your own understanding.

If a submission raises questions, you may be asked to explain your work, redo the assignment or complete an alternative assessment. Repeated or serious violations can lead to academic consequences or removal from the program. The intent is to use AI as a learning aid, not a shortcut.

Engagement and pacing

Attendance is measured through engagement with the coursework rather than by clocking in. Regular participation is expected regardless of your age or schedule, and extended inactivity can trigger academic intervention or withdrawal.

That said, there are no deadlines. You can move quickly or slowly, and you can pause when life demands it. Adult learners move at different paces at different points in a program, and the plan is built to bend. If you know you are going to be away, tell your advisor — a message costs nothing and prevents an inactivity flag.

Technology

You need a device and an internet connection capable of supporting online coursework. Login credentials are personal and must not be shared. ARHS cannot be responsible for problems with your own device or internet service, though technical support will help you work out where the problem sits.

Next step

Find out where you stand in about a minute.

Answer five questions and an advisor will tell you which credits are likely to transfer, what is left to finish, and what your tuition would be. No payment details, no obligation.
