Tuition and payment plans
One published maximum for the whole program, three ways to pay it, and a discount for work you have already done.
$994 is the ceiling, not the starting point
That figure covers the entire diploma program: every course you need, all digital materials, student support and access to the platform. There is no per-course pricing to add up and no separate textbook bill at the start of each subject.
It is a maximum because transfer credit comes off it. Each credit our academic team accepts reduces tuition by $30. Bring 12 accepted credits and you pay $634. Bring 20 and you pay $394.
Your written credit review is where that number becomes real. Until then, anything either of us says is an estimate.
Estimate
What might you pay?
$994 − 8 credits × $30 = $754
An estimate based on the published $30-per-credit discount. Your written credit review is the figure that counts.
Three ways to pay
All three come to the same total.
The plans exist to spread the cost, not to charge you more for spreading it.
| How you pay | Today | Then | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay in full | $994 | — | $994 |
| 3-month plan | $100 deposit | $298 × 3 | $994 |
| 6-month plan | $100 deposit | $149 × 6 | $994 |
All three plans come to the same $994. Fees charged outside tuition are listed further down this page.
With either plan you begin coursework as soon as the deposit is paid — you are not waiting for the balance to clear.
What tuition includes
- Every course required for your 24-credit plan
- All digital course materials — no separate textbook purchases
- Academic support when a subject stops making sense
- Technical support for the platform
- Your credit evaluation and written graduation plan
- Full access to the learning platform for the length of your program
What sits outside tuition
Being specific here matters more than saying "no hidden fees" and leaving it there. These are charged separately and are not refundable:
- Administrative or processing fees
- Payment plan service fees
- Transcript or document request fees
If a fee would apply to something you are about to ask for, ask the enrollment team for the amount in writing before you commit to it.
American Royal High School tuition, explained
How much does an online high school diploma cost here? The published maximum is $994. That is a ceiling, not a quote — the online high school cost for adults who transfer credits is lower, because every accepted credit takes $30 off it.
A high school diploma cost breakdown at ARHS has fewer lines than most people expect:
- Tuition — $994 maximum, covering all digital course materials, student support and platform access.
- Transfer credit reduction — minus $30 for each accepted credit.
- Application fee — none.
- Credit review — no charge.
Fees that sit outside tuition are listed further down this page rather than buried: administrative and processing, payment plan service, and transcript or document requests.
Is this an affordable online high school for adults? That is genuinely not ours to answer — it depends on your circumstances, and a school calling its own price affordable is not information. What we can do is publish the figure, publish what reduces it, and put the refund terms where you can read them before paying.
Online high school with payment plans
You do not have to pay in full. There is an online high school monthly payment plan in two shapes, both starting with a $100 deposit:
- 3 months — $100 deposit, then 3 × $298.
- 6 months — $100 deposit, then 6 × $149.
Both total the same $994 maximum. A payment plan spreads the cost; it does not increase or reduce it.
These are the figures as published. Ask us to confirm them in writing before you pay anything — a web page is not a quotation.
If you withdraw
The refund schedule runs from your course start date:
| When you withdraw | Refund |
|---|---|
| Within week 1 | 100% — Withdraw during the first week after your course start date and you receive a full refund. |
| Within week 2 | 75% — Withdrawals during the second week are eligible for a 75% refund. |
| Within week 3 | 50% — Withdrawals during the third week are eligible for a 50% refund. |
| Week 4 onward | None — After the fourth week begins no refund is available. By this point you have had meaningful access to course materials and support services. |
If you are on a payment plan you remain responsible for payments according to that schedule, and any outstanding balance is adjusted to the eligible refund percentage. Requests must be made in writing. The complete policy, including what to include in a request, is on the refund policy page.
Lower it before you pay it
The most reliable way to reduce tuition is to get every credit you have already earned counted. Send whatever records you can find — even partial ones.
